Christian life is all but static. While the revelation of God through Jesus Christ was a unique miracle, man’s reaction to this manifestation of God’s love is not something that just happens in a person’s life only to be forgotten in the long run. Our understanding of His love is continuous and grows with discipline.
Despite past failures, the Holy Spirit will inspire us to develop an awareness of Christ’s indwelling presence. There is no end to this kind of growth and development because the more we become aware of Christ’s presence, the greater our love for Him becomes. This growth is the life-giving energy of our spirit and path of righteousness, enabling us to reach the fruit-bearing maturity in His kingdom. It is the little things in our life that allows us to grow and remember His love.
It’s like that famous bit of British history: “For want of a nail, a shoe was lost. For want of a shoe, a horse was lost. For want of a horse, a king was lost. And for want of a king, the kingdom was lost!”–All because of one tiny little nail!–The importance of little things! This is why the Scripture says, “He that is faithful in that which is least is faithful also in that which is most.” (Lk.16:10)–So look out for “Little Things”! Don’t ever underestimate them!
A prayer: Lord, thank You that if I pursue You and all Your ways, I will be rewarded and bear fruit. Amen
