The Next Step: Part III

We’ve address God’s will as a relationship and the human factors that impact our perspective on that relationship. Let us explore another human factor impacting our relationships and disconnect towards understanding His will, procrastination.

“I’ll do it tomorrow. I’m not sure what I should do. I’ll just wait to see what God tells me?” Does any of this sounds familiar? Procrastination comes in many forms and even impacts our connection with God. The Bible tells us the steps we are to take in life and explains how God looks after us. No where, however, does it say God is obligated to provide us with Steps 2 of 3 during our journey.

“I want to know God’s will for my career, marriage, family, or life.” While we inadvertently use such lines of procrastination God is telling us, “Let’s get to the basics. Are you reading your Bible? Are you in a small group? Are you talking with me? Are you taking time to pray?”

Maybe you’ve been attending a church for more than a year and need to take the next step towards membership. Maybe you’ve been praying about baptism but still need to put it on the calendar. Maybe you’ve been looking for a group of people to have in your life yet  are too busy to attend Bible study or just hang out. Maybe God has shown you what your spiritual gifts are and you know you should find a way to use it to serve others.

So, the main question in a series of questions is…what are you waiting for? Ecclesiastes 5:4 says, “When you make a promise to God, don’t delay in following through…”

What’s your next step?
